Do Not Sit By A Dry Brook

Do Not Sit By A Dry Brook.

Elijah sat down on a rock in contemplation. Something was wrong. He could sense it.  Yesterday, he discovered that the brook Cherith from where he had drank water for months had stopped flowing. All he had left was a skin full of water. He knew it wouldn’t last beyond the next day. He shifted uneasily on the rock  and looked east with expectation, waiting for the ravens to swoop down and bring him the meal for the day. Since he obeyed the instructions of the Lord and came here, the Lord had hidden him from the persecution of that worshipper of baal, that souless murderer, Jezebel. The birds had brought him bread and meat in the morning and repeated the same meal in the evening. The birds had always been on time. They never failed to show up. But this morning, they were late in coming. It had never happened before. He shielded his creased brow from the morning sun with his cloak. But Elijah waited in vain. The ravens never showed up.

The brook had dried up, but Elijah sat there, waiting. While Elijah waited at that dry brook, the Lord had prepared a widow in his next location of assignment, to feed him and sustain him through the famine. But Elijah did not know this, so he sat down by a dry brook brooding.

What is a dry brook?

A dry brook is what is no longer producing fruit, positive results for you.

The Path To Prosperity. Part 1

God wants you to prosper.
He delights in, takes pleasure in the prosperity of his saints. He loves to see His children do well in life as they walk in the centre of His will. He wants you to prosper in your assignment, business, career, job, ministry and in all that you do.

Psalms 35:27
Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause:
yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

There is a promise of prosperity for those who serve The Lord and walk in obedience to His will.

Job 36:11
If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

Psalms 1:3
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

In the first Psalm The Lord said if you do not walk in ungodly counsel, if you do not walk with sinners or sit in the seat of the scornful, whatsoever you do will prosper.

True prosperity is more than the accumulation of money and material things. True prosperity is an act of divine providence, empowering you with the necessary economic, social and political resources you require to pursue and fulfil His Will and kingdom agenda for your life, for the Body of Christ and for the world. True prosperity is the divine empowerment to move in the direction of God’s will and carry out His agenda without any fear, intimidation or hinderance. This is the Will of God for all His children. True prosperity will manifest itself in our lives in different ways depending on our assignment and the grace of God on our lives. God doesn’t just give us resources for no reason. God despises waste. Every resource The Lord brings into our hands, every act of divine providence in our lives has a specific purpose in God’s divine agenda for our lives.

Prosperity for a believer in China who has an assignment to reach villages in the interior may be different for a believer who is a Wall Street banker with an assignment to reach the political elite. Both believers will receive the supernatural resources necessary for them to carry out their assignment. Both of them will walk in divine providence according to their faith, in accordance with their assignment and calling.

But how does He position us for prosperity? How does He bring prosperity into our lives? Prosperity doesn’t just happen. There is a way heaven positions the believer for true prosperity.

For decades anytime the word ‘prosperity’ was mentioned by a preacher it meant giving money to the church, to the men and women of God so that you can ‘become rich.’ These preachers didn’t know any better, so they taught what they knew. There is a place for giving in the prosperity equation, however giving is not the fundamental key that unlocks your prosperity. You can give yourself to an early grave but unless you pay attention to what we are about to discuss, you will not experience the level of prosperity The Lord desires for you.

1. The Right Place (The Mystery of Geographical Location.)

There is a place for prosperity. Kingdom prosperity is connected to a definite geographical location. When God wants you to prosper, He guides you to and instructs you to reside in a specific geographical location.
Your success, promotion, prosperity in life is tied to a geographical location. You cannot prosper ‘anywhere.’ You will not prosper ‘abroad’ if that is not where the Lord wants you to be. You may travel to a foreign country to escape the economic hardship in your country but if the Lord is not sending you there, it would be a waste of your time and life. You will prosper in a particular geographical location where The Lord wants you to be in furtherance of His kingdom agenda and in accordance to His will for your life. Continue reading
