The Deception At Jezebel’s Table

1 Kings 18:19
Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.

In the days of Elijah the Tishbite, there were three categories of prophets in the land of Israel.
The prophets of Baal.
The prophets who ate at Jezebel’s table
Elijah and the prophets of The Lord.

The prophets of Baal openly served their sex and fertility god called Ashtoreth. Their worship of this evil deity wasn’t hidden. It was known to all that these particular prophets were absolutely dedicated to the worship of Ashtoreth. These were evil men who didn’t even pretend to follow Jehovah in any way.

Then there were the four hundred prophets who ate at Jezebel’s table. Jezebel was the daughter of a king who worshipped Ashtoreth. She married Ahab king of Israel and brought her Ashtoreth/baal worship along with her. Jezebel was a wicked woman who loved to be in control of both the political and spiritual aspects of the kingdom. These prophets allied and aligned themselves with this wicked woman because of what she offered them. She offered them royal dainties from her table. She offered them a royal lifestyle powered from her throne of wickedness. These prophets ate whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted, however they wanted. There was unlimited provision at Jezebel’s table. There was no restraint whatsoever at Jezebel’s table. Eating at Jezebel’s table represents the unrestricted satisfaction of the desires of the flesh.

Those who ate at Jezebel’s table had certain characteristics. Continue reading

Dayo sat on the edge of his bed staring into the darkness outside his window which threatened to invade his room, but was held at bay by the dim light from his bedside lamp. The night was quiet. But the thoughts in his mind waged a noisy war against his soul.
Since Tina visited him earlier in the week, he had been haunted by fear. It was fear like no other he had felt before in his life. Fear of getting tied to a woman he wasn’t sure about.
The silence in the darkness was broken by a renegade police siren which wailed through the night, and slowly faded into the distance.
He crawled back under the sheets and had a disturbed sleep.
By the time he woke up, it was time for work. He dressed up and rushed out of the house.
He arrived at his office in Marina at 7:30am. His secretary brought him black coffee and sandwiches. He finally settled down to work after breakfast.
At 9:30am he got a call.
It was Tina.

When Jesus Causes You Pain

When Jesus Causes you Pain.

Matthew 19:16.
A rich man came to Jesus and asked how he could ‘enter the kingdom of God.’ If the man didn’t have any problems he wouldn’t have needed Jesus. If his money was enough to solve his problems he wouldn’t have needed Jesus. In spite of the money he possessed, the man had big problems and he knew that only Jesus could solve them, so he came to Jesus.

A passage of scripture says, ‘money answers all things.’ “All Things” refer to money related things. Apparently it cannot give solution to all human problems, if it could then rich people will be the happiest on the planet. But sadly they are not. Money cannot solve issues relating to your emotions, mind and soul. Money cannot solve issues that have nothing to do with money. This man’s needs were beyond what money could provide.

The rich man asked Jesus, ‘how can I enter the kingdom of God?’ Jesus looked at him and saw what no other man could see. He saw what covetous and greedy pastors would never see. He saw what wolves cleverly disguised as pastors would never see. He SAW that the rich man was a SLAVE to money. Mammon, the god of money had imprisoned him in its dungeon. Jesus wanted to set him free from bondage to mammon. Jesus said you cannot serve God and mammon. You must choose who you will serve. You can’t serve them both.

‘Sell everything you have. Give the proceeds to charities. Follow me.’

These were not the words the man expected to hear from Jesus. These words cut deep into his soul and exposed the secrets of his heart. These words caused him pain.
