The Danger Of Covetousness.
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, or his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” Exodus 20: 17.
In all my years as a believer I have not heard up to 3 preachers talk about the sin of covetousness. In fact, most preachers encourage, fuel and sponsor the sin of covetousness by telling us about their luxury houses, their bank accounts, their possessions. They fuel covetousness by staging testimonies of people who got financial breakthroughs by their sacrificial giving, thereby stirring a deep greed for money and material possessions in the heart of their congregation. Majority of testimonies birth greed in people, not faith or love for Yeshua.
“You shall not covet your neighbour’s house, cars, business, ministry, job, wife, husband, children, lifestyle, possessions, success.”
We have consistently violated this scripture that is why many of us are unhappy with our lives. Many have become spiritual beggars, always asking the Lord for more things, not realising that having more will not make us happy. Your spirutual leaders have sold you paganism telling you that the more you possess the more happy you will be. They are pathological liars. In spite of all you have acquired, why aren’t you happy with your life? I will tell you why. Happiness is not a product of accumulation. Happiness is a product of contentment.
Many people are not content with their spouse, not content with their ministry, not content with their business, not content with their job, not content with their life, how then can they be happy when they are so discontented with who and what they are?
The poverty-driven gospel charlatans preach also makes believers miserable. When you think you need another house, another car, another million dollars, another holiday, to be happy, how on earth can you be happy?
In Luke 12, Yeshua said, “A man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” The real essence and meaning of your life is not in your possessions. Having more money, more possessions will not make you happy. Contentment with who you are, where you are and what you have is the key to happiness. If you are not happy right now, right where you are in life, happy with your job, business, ministry, marriage, spouse, you will never be happy even if you became the richest person on earth. Your covetousness will not give you peace, you will crave more and more but the bottomless pit of your covetousness will never be filled, so you will never be satisfied and will never be happy.
You shall not covet.
It is not a suggestion.
It is an instruction to set you free from bondage to the illusion and mirage of accumulation of possessions and money.
Contentment is the secret to living a happy, fulfilled and peaceful life.
Blessings.
Well written and we’ll understood!
Great write up
