When God Wants To Birth Greatness Through You. Part 2.

In Genesis 17, God came to Abraham in a vision and told him that he would become the father of many nations. God promised him that he would give birth to a son and through this son all the nations of the earth would be blessed. While God was talking about a yet to be born Isaac, Abraham was thinking about Ishmael. They were having different conversations.
You see, God could never use Ishmael to effect His purposes because Ishmael was a product of Abraham’s ingenuity to help himself and help God fulfil His promise of giving him a son. So Ishmael was disqualified. He was not a part of God’s plan for Abraham.
But Abraham cried out to God to use Ishmael, to carry out His purposes through Ishmael.

Genesis 17:18
And [he] said to God, Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!

An Ishmael looks successful but it will stagnate you. You cannot grow beyond the level of an Ishmael. Yes it is successful. Yes, you are doing well, but an Ishmael will get to a certain point beyond which it cannot grow. Your success will plateau and will remain at that point for as long as you want to continue to resist the Isaac God wants to bring into your life.

An Ishmael is the enemy of your destiny. An Ishmael may look good but it is a satanic weapon designed by the enemy to limit you, cripple your progress and stop you from rising to the next level in God’s plan. An Ishmael may bring you money, success, fame and popularity but it is a weapon in the hands of the enemy against you.

An Ishmael is a ceiling beyond which you cannot rise, it is a containment beyond which you cannot go. An Ishmael creates a satanic containment around your life that keeps you from expanding, multiplying, increasing. The containment may be financial, geographical or spiritual. As long as you hold on to an Ishmael you cannot break out of the limitations you presently experience. Until you release an Ishmael you will be severely limited.

Genesis 17:16
And I will bless her and give you a son also by her. Yes, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.

Concerning Isaac, God said He would birth ‘nations’ and ‘kings’. But concerning Ishmael God said ‘he will be a great nation.’ There is no way you can compare Isaac with Ishmael. One is empowered to birth nations and kings but the other would be ‘a great nation.’ The power to birth nations is the power of multiplication. With Isaac comes a supernatural power and ability to multiply in ways you never imagined or conceived. There is a multiplication anointing and grace coming upon your life for this season of your life.

The power to birth nations and kings implies global influence and impact. With Ishmael you operated and functioned within a nation but with Isaac you will be dealing with nations on a global level. Isaac comes with territorial expansion and influence. The structures and systems that handled a ‘one nation Ishmael’ will be too small to handle multiple nations and kings that comes with Isaac. This is the reason why God is preparing you ahead of time to receive it. Your old structures and systems will collapse under the weight of Isaac. God will give you the tools, grace, skill, people you require to function successfully with Isaac.

Covenant dimension.

There is a dimension to Isaac that completely separates him from Ishmael. This one distinctive difference is a good reason to release Ishmael and hold on to Isaac. Pay attention to this.

Genesis 17:20-21
And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee:Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. BUT my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. (Emphasis mine)

God would bless Ishmael as much as He could but He would establish His covenant with Isaac.
This is a game changer.
Entering into covenant with Isaac meant that God was taking possession and ownership of Isaac. What this means is that God would see Isaac as His own. In ancient times when you entered into covenant with anyone that means all they have belongs to you and all you have belongs to them. This is why God could tell Abraham to ‘Give me Isaac’ and Abraham did not ask questions but moved in obedience to do exactly as God requested. Why? Isaac belonged to God.

The Isaac God wants to birth through you may be a new ministry or a new dimension of ministry which you have never experienced before. It may be a new business, career path, product, service. Whatever your Isaac may be it will belong to God. Unlike Ishmael where you laid claim to everything, you controlled everything, you did whatsoever you liked, you cannot do this with Isaac. Isaac belongs to God. It is God’s possession. And because it belongs to God you will handle it exactly as God tells you to.

You may have been in business, ministry and a certain career for decades and you are comfortable with and used to calling the shots. However God is about to wrest that control out of your hands and totally take control of the Isaac He wants to birth through you. God will not allow you to treat an Isaac the way you treated Ishmael. God will not let you run the ministry, business, career he wants to birth through you the same way you handled things in the past. To handle the greatness God wants to birth through you, He will transform your thinking, He would raise the level of your thinking. To birth nations demands a totally different paradigm.

Paradigm is defined as a framework containing the basic assumptions, ways of thinking, and methodology that are commonly accepted by members of a community.

God is bringing you into a new context, a new framework of functions and operations. He is going to effect a radical change in your thinking, character and methods. To influence and affect nations you have to start thinking on a global level. You would have to source for information to expand and strengthen your knowledge base. The bible says in Isaiah

Isaiah 33:6
And wisdom and knowledge shall be
the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation:
the fear of the Lord is his treasure.

The level of knowledge and wisdom by which you functioned in the past cannot support you with what God is about to birth through you. Invest in books, seminars, training. To handle and function on the level of Isaac you have to transform your thinking completely. To build new structures and systems requires a higher level of knowledge and wisdom than you currently function with. You may not even have the necessary knowledge to do this but God will bring you people with the needed training, experience, expertise and skill-set to develop the structures and systems that you require for Isaac to function.

With Ishmael you operated on a local level. You thought on a local level. You functioned an operated in a very limited, restricted sphere. You were the local champion. People looked up to you and were in awe of your achievements. However in the eyes of God you were only warming up. What God will do with Isaac is going to be on a global level and when you look back at Ishmael ( which you think is the best thing that has happened to you or the best thing in your life) you will wonder how and why you held on to it for so long. What God will do through Isaac will make Ishmael pale in comparison.

Isaac is sacred. Isaac belongs to God.
You cannot deal with Isaac as you please. That would be sacrilege. And God will move swiftly to correct your error and if you insist on mistreating God’s covenant possession, you will face swift discipline to get your attention, reset your thinking and get you back on track.

You cannot operate the new the way you operated the old.
Your old methods of operation would never work with the greatness God wants to birth through you. God’s covenant possession will be treated with honour and respect.

You ran your ministry and business like a demi-god. You did as you pleased. You were reckless, unwise and arrogant in the utilisation of the resources God brought to you to pursue and carry out the assignment He gave you. You treated people as you liked. People were scared to talk to you because you were arrogant, self centred and unapproachable. But such behaviour ends with Ishmael. You have to work on your character and strengthen it. With Isaac you will hold yourself accountable to higher standards of behaviour. You will handle resources prudently and with wisdom. You will treat the people God brings into your circle of influence with respect and honour.

God would defend Isaac as His own, because by reason of the covenant He would cut with Him, Isaac would become His own. God will do any and everything to defend Isaac.

Isaiah 43:4
Since thou wast precious in my sight,
thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee:
therefore will I give men for thee,
and people for thy life.

Anyone who stands against Isaac is standing against God Himself. You don’t have to do anything to protect or defend Isaac because God Himself will fight against all who rise against him.

God will finance the birthing of Isaac Himself. You don’t have to worry about how and where and when the resources to birth Isaac will come because God is in a covenant to make it happen through you. All you have to do is stand in faith, trusting that God would do exactly what He said. When God enters into a covenant concerning an issue, He would move heaven and earth to make sure it comes to full manifestation. God will open doors for supernatural supply of resources for birthing Isaac through you. There is an open heaven over your life and you are attracting all the resources you need to birth Isaac. There is uncommon favour upon you right now. There is a supernatural flow of resources into your life as you walk In this new dimension in God. Enforce the will of God for your life and for this season by faith, in the place of prayer.

Be blessed.

  1. Hello Praise George,

Don’t be so hard on Ishmael. God gives us the promise and sometimes doesn’t reveal the vehicle. We then try to “help” God by assuming this is what He meant. Being way pst child bearing ages, Sarah could only assume perhaps God’s promise maybe through her servant. This repeated t self when Rachael was barren. She gave her maid to Jacob before she eventually bore Joseph and Benjamin. Leah also did same when she stopped bearing children. That’s how the twelve tribes of uses came about from Simon right down to Naphtali.

But was Ishmael really a mistake or an error? When we remember that all things, all things work together for good, then it wasn’t a mistake. If we recall that Joseph had a dream to preserve the world from dying of farmine God used Ishmael as a vehicle to transport Joseph into slavery in Egypt to fulfill that purpose. Esau was also preserved after his brother became his master by marrying from the family of Ishmael to preserve the Edomite. That’s how Esau was able to overcome the lordship of Jacob over his life.

In summary, Ishmael was not such a mistake because other dreams and purposes might not have been sustained but for Ishmael. Both Isaac and Ishmael came together to bury their Father Abraham.

Thank you sir, I am highly enlightened through this article. I believe that it is time for me to go to a higher level of what God want me to be.
Years ago I do feel satisfied with the level of my ‘achievements’, but this day I come to discover that there are grounds to cover.
