Sometime ago a ministry invited me to speak at their church Convention. During my stay with them I had a discussion with one of the pastors of the church. I was curious to know how I was invited because I didn’t have any ‘contacts’ in that ministry.
“How was I invited for this program?” I asked.
“We had a meeting where we planned the program. It was during that meeting that someone mentioned your name that you could get the job done. So we contacted you for the program.”
Here I was hundreds of miles away from that ministry, but they tabled my name for discussion and invited me to be the main speaker at their Church convention.
This has happened to me many times. I have been invited for programs in countries where I had no contacts, yet God placed my name on the lips of one of the organisers of the program and I was invited. While I was busy pursuing my assignment, God was opening doors for me by placing my name on the lips of men and women within and outside my nation to favour my righteous cause.
We should understand that real promotion, sustained promotion, long term promotion comes from the Lord, not from men.
For promotion cometh neither from the east,
nor from the west, nor from the south.
But God is the judge:
he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
When God gives you an assignment He backs you up, provides supernaturally for you, opens doors for you to make sure that assignment is successful. God is the one who orchestrates circumstances and moves men to favour and promote you and your righteous cause. It is good to have contacts in different places. However, if God doesn’t move those contacts to favour you, nothing good will happen in spite of the fact that they are well placed people. We should be careful not to put our trust in men. Our help is in the Name of The Lord and not in men. You don’t need to know the ‘right people’. The only person you need to know is God. He will not forsake, neither will He forget or fail you, no matter the situation. God will move people to say the right things on your behalf, at the right time, before the right people and this will usher you into another level of favour and promotion.
God has a way of positioning you, your ministry and your business with the people who require your unique combination of talents, expertise and experience to solve their problems and bring them real solutions. God has a way of placing your name on the lips of strangers to mention you to those in strategic positions to favour you and your righteous cause.
This was how God promoted Joseph in the land of Egypt.
And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret. And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon:and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it:and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it. And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me:God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:
Joseph was in prison serving time for a crime he didn’t commit. The king of Egypt had a troubling dream and there was nobody who could interpret it. The butler of Pharaoh mentioned Joseph as the one who could interpret the dream. Two years previously the butler and baker of Pharaoh had offended their master and they were thrown into the same prison where Joseph was serving time. One morning Joseph noticed that they were unusually sad, so be asked them what the problem was. They both had dreamt and they didn’t know the meaning of their dreams. Joseph interpreted their dreams. He asked the butler to remember him when he was restored to his former position. All went according to Joseph’s interpretation of their dreams: the baker was executed and the butler was restored. But the butler forgot Joseph.
But Pharaoh’s dream reminded the butler about Joseph. He mentioned his name to Pharaoh. He mentioned his name in the palace, before the throne, before the most powerful person in the land of Egypt. He told him that there was a Hebrew man in jail who had the gift to interpret dreams. It is interesting how God positioned the butler to be close to Pharaoh and to mention Joseph’s name to him. Pharaoh sent for Joseph, he interpreted his dream, got released from prison and became prime minister in Egypt.
There are things we can never accomplish by hard work. There are places we can never gain access by our hard work, contacts or personal efforts. There are doors that won’t open to us no matter who we know. There are things that only God can effect in our lives.
When God speaks on your behalf through the lips of a man or woman positioned at the right place, He gives you instant credibility. When the right person mentions your name to the right people, in the right situation, doors will open for you, promotion will happen, breakthrough will occur. All it takes is for God to place your name on the right lips, at the right place, at the right tome, before the right people.
We must understand that human nature is essentially evil.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked:who can know it?
People generally tend to gossip and say negative things about others. They tend to remember your weaknesses, your failures and your short comings. When they gather their nature makes them talk about the negative rather than the positive in people. But when The Lord places your name upon their lips, when The Lord moves people to remember you, they will mention your name for good; they will say the right things about you, about your ministry and about your business. They will mention your name for favour and for promotion.
God positioned somebody in the palace to mention David’s name to the king.
1 Samuel 16:17-19
And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me. Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the Lord is with him.
Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.
Saul was troubled by an evil spirit. He asked for someone who could play skilfully on the harp. Someone at the palace mentioned David’s name. Saul invited him to the palace to play for him and solve his problem. That was how the doors to the palace were opened to David.
The Lord is opening certain strategic doors for you. The Lord is opening the doors to the palace before you. Your talents, expertise, giftings and skills will be required and rewarded in Jesus Name.
This is my favourite example of how God places your name on the right lips, at the right place, before the right person for favour and promotion.
2 Kings 5:1-5
Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria:he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife. And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel. And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
While Elisha was thousands of miles away in Israel, God placed his name on the lips of a maid and moved her to promote his name, his ministry and his calling before Naaman the Syrian General. The maid declared that if Naaman would contact Elisha that his disease would be healed. She said it with all sense of certainty and confidence. There was no doubt in her mind whatsoever about Elisha’s ability to heal the Syrian of his disease. When she was ushered into Naaman’s presence she repeated the same thing with all boldness. That convinced Naaman that the maid knew what she was talking about. He took her at her word and made the journey to Israel. The rest is history. Naaman was healed of his disease.
Elisha never knew that a girl somewhere was mentioning his name before a great man who needed his services. He never knew that God had moved her to extol his virtues, his abilities, his giftings and ministry before a powerful man in another nation. God made the introduction and made that connection.
Right now God is moving somebody somewhere to put forth your name as the solution to a problem, the answer to a difficult question. Somebody is recommending you very highly for a job, to occupy a strategic seat. A total stranger is boldly defending you, your gifts, your ministry and your business before people you’ve never met before. A stranger is recommending your services to people you’ve never seen, in places you’ve never been.
May The Lord place your name on the right lips, to say the right things about you, your ministry, your business and your family.
May strangers mention your name for good.
May your name be mentioned in strategic meetings, before decision makers, to solve problems and effect solutions.
May you be remembered by the right people for favour and promotion.
